We’re kicking off preorders for Rise of the Tomb Raider at Gamescom 2015, detailing some of the unique offerings found at participating retailers around the world.

You’ll notice that many of these preorder offers include “Card Packs” – a new feature to the Tomb Raider franchise. In Rise of the Tomb Raider you’ll earn cards by completing specific challenges, or discover them in hidden pockets of the environment. Once activated in extra game modes, these cards become modifiers, letting you customize your play experience in a wide variety of ways.

Some cards are a bit cheeky, some increase difficultly, and some give you special advantages. Some cards can be used more than once, while some cards are consumable and must be earned again. These cards will offer hundreds of ways to customize your Rise of the Tomb Raider experience and rank higher on the global leaderboards. We’ll provide more details on cards and extra game modes in the future.
